Audrey Tautou

Audrey Tautou, the oldest of four children, was born on the 8th of August 1976 in Beaumont Puy-de Domme. The actress was inspired by her parents, dentist, and a teacher and both of them were teachers. They encouraged her to pursue her passion for theatre. It was in stark contrast her earlier ambition to be a primatologist due to the fact that she loved monkeys. It was a quick rise for her to be a well-known young actress. When she graduated in 1998, her studies, she was able to be a part of Jeunes Premiers, a French TV talent-scouting programme sponsored by Canal+. There she received the award for best Young Actress in the Beziers Festival of Young Actors. It was this that led her to embark on a professional career as an actor. Although she studied at The Institut Catholique de Paris and attended church in her youth Tautou is now averse to her religious upbringing and has stated she's not Catholic. In addition to her acting profession, she has also pursued modelling. She modelled of L'Oreal Mont Blanc, Chanel and was dubbed "The Chanel Muse". Additionally, she is a keen photographic passion and has recently presented an exhibit of her work during the Arles Festival, titled Superficial. Her photographs are largely about the spotlight and fame. They also feature a collection of self portraits as well. Audrey Tautou's first big role, as Amelie Poulain's main actress in Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie poulain, earned the actress international fame. Amelie made international waves at the box office and won awards around all over the world. It is currently the highest-grossing French language movie across the US. The film's success led to a huge increase in production. Tautou was later cast in a variety of films, which included British dramatics, such as Stephen Knight's Dirty Pretty Things and Jean-Pierre Jeunet's Long Sunday of fiancailles. Tautou also appeared alongside Tom Hanks in Ron Howard's The Da Vinci Code directed by Dan Brown.
